Our costs for dealing with such cases where Legal Aid is not available will depend on the type of case, the amount of papers that we need to read or produce, and how the case progresses. In any case where Legal Aid is not available we will discuss with you the funding options you have, and the likely cost of the case. In many cases we are happy to agree with you fixed fee for all or part of the case, which we will confirm with you in writing.
Many straightforward motoring cases can be dealt with simply in the Magistrates’ Court, and often are not covered by Legal Aid. In such cases, our fixed fees for dealing with cases in Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court are as follows: –
- Single hearing, Guilty plea and conclude – £360 (£300 plus VAT).
- Guilty plea and Exceptional Hardship or Special Reasons Argument – £600 (£500 plus VAT).
- Not guilty plea and subsequent Trial – £1200 (£1000 plus VAT) to £2400 (£2000 plus VAT) depending on length of Trial.
The preparation work in the office may be undertaken by either Chris Bentley or Simon Dyble but representation in Court will normally be undertaken by Chris Bentley.
